For alien environment i wanted to photograph at the funeral parlours. i choose this as i believe its a very alien environment to many of us even thought most of us will have been into one a some point in our lives. From my own personal experience i have never really looked around and always wanted to be in for as little amount of time as possible. so whilst there photographing i wanted to take in the attention to detail like the mass of crosses hung, the pictures on the walls, poems, flowers the list is endless, but within my pictures i also wanted to depict the eeriness which you feel when entering despite all the efforts to make it warm and welcoming.
with this image i edited so that the light coming in on to the coffins appeared cold
this was one of the rooms upstairs which was where all the funeral arrangements where make as you can see its was lit and decorated to make it feel warm and inviting but i edited using split tone in lightroom which created some of the more green tones i also added clarity to it which i thought along with the slight change in tone made for a slightly more atmospheric image.
this was again edited in a similar way to the image above but i didnt add any clarity to it, but i wanted to include it as i liked the tv in the corner. the tv wasnt on at the time i took this picture but i found the reflections and colour on it really drew my eye towards it and created a good focal point.
