FINAL IMAGES & EVALUATION
This image of the library is one of the pictures which appears in the book 'images of Darwen' and has been used to replace the original archive image of the parks fountain.

below are the images which i have produce in response to the final 8 archive images i chose. these pictures will all feature in the book which i am going to produce for my final outcome for this assignment.

all of my images have been edited in lightroom and all of the camera settings are available along side each picture. when editing i decided i didn't want to stick to any particular theme or ridged structure i wanted to use a variey of editing which i saw appropriate for that particular picture.

the composition of all the images was dictated by the original archive images i chose this was because i wanted to try and recreate them as compositionaly close as possible. i think that when viewing the images together, then and now, they are 'arresting' in that you find yourself looking for the smallest of changes.

the book is my final outcome for this assignment and on reviewing it i have notice a few spelling and grammar mistakes, along with a spec of dust on one of the images which went un-noticed during editing. also some of the images when printed have turned out slightly darker than what they appeared on the computer. overall thought i am pleased with what I've produced and feel I've learnt quite a lot along the way.

FINAL PHOTOSHOOT

before i went out on the final photoshoot i narrowed the archival images down to 8 then i knew which images i needed to capture whilst out. below are the final 8.

this particular image was later changed as maintenance work was being carried out on the frame which prevented me from photographing it.

final edited images from photoshoot.

i decided that when editing the pictures i would try to keep most of them colour but would also use other effects including desaturation and sepia if i thought a particular image looked better in that way.
the majority of these images are going to be used for my book one will be swapped as the light caused lens flare inspite using a lens hood. I'll also be adding to the book a picture of the library to replace the fountain, a view of the town from the tower and a shot of the tower its self.
whilst out on this photoshoot i also took with me my film slr camera a Minolta Dynax 404si, i used Ilford, black and white film with an ISO of 400. negatives can be seen on post, URBAN 6. I'm also going to include them in my reaserch file along with the photos i deveoped whist in the darkroom.
see post, URBAN 7 for my final images and evaluation.

URBAN 4

Here are a few examples of the colour editing i carried out in lightroom consisting of colour, slightly de-saturated and black & white.

after editing these pictues i decided that i definatley wanted to do a then & now but not in the way of showing how things had changed but focusing on the things which had remaind the same whilst everything else around was changing.
i looked at an article which i had found on the internet it gave a detailed insight on the craft of then and now photography (www.fourmilab.ch/images/lignieres_then_and_now/craft.html) but i decided not to use this technique but rather study the originals and try and recreate them as closely as my eye and camera were capable.
see post, URBAN 5

URBAN 3

after i received the pictures i chose from the library archive, i then went out and photographed the same areas to show how it had change if at all. i also took several images from the book which i wanted to photograph.
the images below are all unedited

after this photoshoot i decided to duplicate each photo three times in lightroom and edit the colour settings which consisted of black and white, colour and slightly desaturated. i did this to help me decide on how to present them in the book i wanted to produce for my final outcome.
a few example of this can be seen in the post, URBAN 4
